Eysturoy and Sandoyar tunnel (sub-sea road tunnels)

Faroe Islands / Denmark 2016-2020

The Eysteroy-tunnel is the first of two sub-sea tunnels being built by NCC on the Faroe Islands, and Pretec is happy to have signed the contract for rock support products.The materials will be delivered during a 3 years period. The two sub-sea tunnels, with a length of 11,2 and 10,5 kilometers, are the largest investment in infrastructure on the Faroe Islands ever and has a budget of 2.6 billion DDK. These tunnels will connect the islands Streymoy with Eysturoy and Streymoy with Sandoy. When the two tunnels are finished, travel time to the capital Torshavn will be shortened up to 1,5 hours for many of the residents on Faroe Islands. More information and pictures here and here.

Fv. 17 Liafjellet–Olvikvatnet, (road tunnel)

North Norway, close to the Arctic Circle 2016-2019

The project includes the construction of two road tunnels. The Bakliholtan tunnel in the north is 443 m long, while the Liafjellet tunnel located in the south is 2,005 m long. More information here and here.

Dýrafjardargöng, (Road tunnel)

Westfjords, Iceland 2017-2020, Products supplied: NC-bolts and standard rebar bolts. All in Pc-coating.

The tunnel will be 5.6 km long and will shorten the route of the Vestfjarðavegur by 26 km. The estimated cost of the tunnel is ISK 9.2 billion. More information here and here.

The Ryfylke (Solbakk) subsea crossing, Sub-sea road tunnel

Länsimetro I and II, Subway under City of Helsinki and City of Espoo

Phase I was completed in the autumn of 2017, about 14 kilometer of tunnel, some parts of the tunnel is subsea, including eight stations. Phase II did start 2014 and will be ready Year 2023. Phase II is about 7 kilometers long and have five stations and one train depot. More information here.

The project consists of two parallel tunnels with a total combined length of 4.6 kilometer. Tunnel did open for traffic Year 2016 and was completly finished 2017. More information here.

Transport infrastructure project (Train tunnel)

Gothenbur, Sweden 2018-2022

The West Link is a railway connection in a tunnel under the center of Gothenburg. The tunnel will connect commuter rail services to routes that pass through the city, and give rise to three new stations in Gothenburg. More information here.

New Slussen, one of the largest urban transformation projects in Sweden

The construction of the New Slussen is one of the largest urban transformation projects in Sweden. The bus terminal: will be placed inside the Katarina bedrock. A safe and modern hub will be created for commuters from Nacka and Värmdö. The bus terminal will be connected with Saltsjöbanan and the underground, facilitating indoor movement between buses, trains and the underground. More information here.

E4 The Stockholm bypass – Förbifart Stockholm – is a new route for the European highway (E4) past the Swedish capital. The new link will connect the southern and northern parts of the Stockholm county, relieve the arterial roads and the inner city of traffic and reduce the vulnerability of the Stockholm traffic system. Hatta Pumped Storage Hydroelectric Project

Hatta in the Hajar Mountains, 140 km southeast of the city of Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE). 2019-2024

The Hatta pumped storage hydroelectric project will be the first hydroelectric power station in the Arabian Gulf region (GCC). It is part of the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 program, which has a goal of providing 75% of Dubai’s total power generation from clean energy sources by 2050. Designed to run for 80 years, our Pc-Coated NC-bolts was a natural choice to ensure the specified service life in the most challenging environments.

The Hatta hydroelectric facility will consist of a lower and an upper reservoir to store and use the surplus water from the Hatta Dam. Both reservoirs will be connected by a 1.2 km long pressure tunnel. Additionally waterways will consist of one tunnel of approx. 1300m length and 7m diameter to feed the powerhouse with approx. 200m³/s. Also part of the works is the construction of two road tunnels with a length of approximately 470 m and 440 m using blast excavation.

Zhengwan High-Speed Railway is an important part of Zhengyu (Zhengzhou-Chongqing) high-speed railway, and is also an important section of the national railway network vertical framework—the Beijing-Kunming high-speed railway. The total length of the line is 818 kilometers. More information here.

Melamchi Water supply Project

The Melamchi Water Supply Project (MWSP) is considered to be the most viable long-term alternative to ease the chronic water shortage situation within the Kathmandu Valley. The Project is designed to divert about 170 MLD of fresh water to Kathmandu Valley from the Melamchi River in Sindhupalchowk district. Augmenting this supply by adding about a further 170 MLD each from the Yangri and Larke rivers, which lie in the upstream proximity of Melamchi are also being investigated as future supply sources.
